ALPRO™ – Milking

ALPRO™ – Milking

From milking point control and monitoring milking performance, to checking that your milking protocols are adhered to, ALPRO delivers the information you need to fine-tune your milk production.

Maximize your milk production

DeLaval ALPRO connected milking solutions will enable you to improve milking routines and maximize your milk production. The new generation DeLaval milking point controllers MPC580 and MPC680 and DeLaval milking point MP780 are designed to help you optimize herd health and productivity with a consistent, efficient milking routine. They provide accurate data on every cow, clear messages and alerts; and automatically record data with little need for manual input. These units can be operated by remote button control or Comfort Start to make routine milking less stressful for your operator.

Automated take-off

DeLaval automatic cluster removers save time and labour for improved parlour workflow.

Monitor milking procedures

Good teat preparation and consistent milking is important for udder health. ALPRO™ for Windows® monitors how each milker follows your farm’s milking protocols, and measures the results. This will indicate if your preparation procedures are being followed or ignored. A report for any milking batches can be displayed with times noted below the general graph.

Reliable, easy to use milking points

The milking point controller displays cow number, milk yield and if the cow needs any attention. Potential problem cows – low yielding cows or cows with a visible health problem (e.g. blood detected in the milk or significant conductivity changes), or if a cow is coming into heat – are brought to your attention immediately during milking and can be sorted for assessment on the MPC. MPC680 and MP780 provide more information and alerts than the MPC580, which focuses more on just milking.

Flow-controlled milking

You can take advantage of Duovac™ flow controlled milking for faster, more complete milk-out. Duovac plus automatic cluster removal, which is a standard combination with MP780 and some configurations of MPC580 and MPC680, provides a safe, smooth milking routine and the right stimulation to maintain good udder health.

Milk meters

Daily milk recording is vital to fine tune milk production and maximize herd performance. DeLaval ICAR approved milk meters – including the technologically advanced MM27BC, which detects blood in the milk, any change in milk conductivity, and monitors air entry in the liners; and the milk weighing meter MM15 – record every cow’s milk production and deliver accurate data for ALPRO to process.

This milk production data can be used to evaluate and implement feed rations for individuals or groups, calculate actual lactation curves and identify potential health problems. You can use the data to group cows according to yield and reduce involuntary culling rates.

Monitor flow rates

Average flow rate to be expected by a group or for the herd, with a good milking procedure. (Individual cows will vary widely.)

Flow rate:
0 to 15 sec. = 0.5 – 1.5 kg / min
15 to 30 sec. = 2.0 – 3.0 kg / min
30 to 60 sec. = 3.5 – 5.0 kg / min

Monitor your milking performance

At every milking, milk yield, flow and time for each cow is recorded. Your operators are alerted to any drop in production by an alarm lamp at the milking point, so they can identify potential problem cows immediately. Individual milk yield and lactation history can be reviewed in ALPRO graphs or tables, as can production from the whole herd.

ID is the key

Automatic identification is the key to integrated herd management – enabling you to manage your cows individually, even in large herds. Automatic ID can boost farm profitability by increasing labour efficiency and reducing human error. DeLaval offers ID solutions to accurately record milk yield to the right cow – providing key herd management data.
