Purchasing Engineer

DeLaval Sourcing manages the strategic purchasing activities with focus on supplying globally to our manufacturing units, distribution centres or directly to our customers.

The major objectives are:

  • Support to new large products implementation projects in due time at right cost. Supplier Selection, Make vs. Buy Analyses, accurate preparation of phase in for production, updates of required master data
  • Driving supplier development & selection from a production engineering qualification perspective. Introduction of changes and development processes
  • Support Sourcing Managers to reduce business risks and consolidate suppliers base
  • Support Product owners, D&E and Supply Chain Team
  • Develop the processes and design of products to reduce COGS

Skills and Experience

  • Engineering background, preferable from robot technology / electronics (university level)
  • At least 2 years experience within a strategic purchasing function
  • A proven track record of delivering results against stretched targets
  • Experience of driving change
  • Experience of Low Cost Country Sourcing is a benefit
  • Fluent English, spoken and written. Other languages are appreciated
  • Project Management skills will be an additional asset

Personal characteristics

  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written. Must be able to communicate and gain trust in different countries/cultures
  • Business oriented and committed to the task
  • Energetic, flexible and very result oriented
  • Ability to prioritise
  • Have a personal passion in driving development in a sustainable direction
  • Since our operation covers a large geographical area, travelling abroad is required.
